Frequent questions

Consider the shape of your face:

  • Round face: Opt for rectangular or angular frames that add definition.
  • Oval Face: Almost any shape works well, but wide frames look especially flattering.
  • Square face: Choose rounded or oval frames to soften your features.
  • Heart-shaped face: Opt for frames that are thin and rounded, or that are wider at the bottom to balance the face.

    Proportions:
The width of the frame should be proportional to the width of your face.

    Comfort and functionality:
Consider weight: Lighter frames are often more comfortable for extended wear.

There are some general guidelines that can help you maintain optimal vision and ensure that your glasses are always adequate for your visual needs.

  • Regular eye exam: It is advisable to have an eye exam at least once a year, or every two years, if you do not have any specific vision problems.
  • Changes in Vision: If you notice that your vision is less clear, you experience headaches, eye strain, or difficulty seeing up close or far away, you may need a new pair of glasses even before your scheduled eye exam.
  • Specific conditions: For some eye conditions, such as presbyopia or worsening myopia, you may need to refresh your glasses more frequently, often every 1-2 years.
  • Wear and Damage: Even if your prescription hasn't changed, your glasses may need to be replaced if the lenses are scratched, the coating is damaged, or the frame is warped.

The time it takes to get used to a new pair of glasses can vary from person to person, but generally falls within this time frame:

  • Initial Adjustment: Most people adjust to a new gradation within a few days, usually 2 to 7 days. During this time, it is normal to experience mild discomfort such as headaches, dizziness, or a distorted perception of objects.
  • Full adaptation: In some cases, adaptation may take up to two weeks, especially if the new prescription involves a significant change, such as a marked increase in lens power or switching to multifocal or progressive lenses.

Factors that influence adaptation:

  1. Lens Type: Progressive, bifocal, or trifocal lenses may take longer to get used to than single vision lenses.
  2. Significant changes: If the gradation change is very large, it may take a little longer to adapt.
  3. Frame Style: Changing your frame style, especially if it changes the size of the lenses or their placement on your eyes, can affect your adaptation time.

Tips for easier adaptation:

  • Wear your new glasses regularly, even if you may feel discomfort at first.
  • Avoid switching between old and new glasses during the adjustment phase, to allow your brain and eyes to get used to the new prescription.

To understand if the glasses have anti-reflective treatment, you can use some simple methods:

1. Observe the reflections on the lenses:

  • Reflection Tinting: Anti-reflective lenses tend to show reflections with a slight green, blue, or purple tinge, depending on the type of coating applied.

2. Check in bright environments: In bright light, such as car headlights or artificial lights, anti-reflective lenses reduce disturbing reflections.

  • Contrast Test: Anti-reflective lenses improve the clarity and contrast of your vision, especially when driving at night or in diffused light conditions.

3. Consultation: Hemmet provides the customer with a specific Laser tool to determine the anti-reflection of the lenses.

The duration of the anti-reflective treatment on eyeglass lenses depends on various factors, but in general, the treatment can last from 1 to 3 years.

Here are some factors that influence the duration:

  • Care and maintenance: The duration of the treatment is significantly influenced by the care you give your glasses. Cleaning them regularly with suitable products and cloths, avoiding abrasive detergents and rough surfaces, helps maintain the effectiveness of the treatment.
  • Daily Use: Heavy and frequent use of glasses can cause the anti-reflective coating to wear out more quickly. Exposure to factors such as sun, humidity and chemicals can affect the lifespan.
  • Lens Quality: High-quality anti-reflective coated lenses often include additional protective layers that can extend the life of the coating.
  • Frame Type: Some frames can put pressure or friction on the lenses, affecting the life of the anti-reflective coating.

Glasses that automatically darken in response to sunlight are called photochromic glasses or photochromic lenses .

These lenses have a special treatment that reacts to UV rays, darkening when exposed to intense sunlight and returning to transparency in low light conditions.

Photochromic lenses offer the advantage of automatically adapting to changes in brightness, improving visual comfort and protecting the eyes from UV rays without the need to change glasses.
